CANCELLED: POLE PEDAL PANT Winter Triathlon

This might be one of the hardest and heart-breaking things to do as the 4th Annual POLE PEDAL PANT Winter Triathlon race (10k ski, 10k mt. bike, and 5k run) has been planned for months and ready to roll this coming Sat., March 8, 2008. The online registration and mail-in registration have shown only 10 registrations. From the last three years' race organization and race experience, this event needs at least 30 racers to run as a successful event (as there are many logistics in a winter triathlon race, with now added chip timing this year). Most importantly, racers would enjoy more participants to race with and would feel more rewarded in a competition.

The race organizer had been looking into a contingent plan to host the event in another venue, such as the Twin Cities areas, such as Elm Creek Park Reserve, Baker Park Reserve, etc. With a short notice, such a contingent plan will not work with many permit requirements/approvals, etc. With the race date approaching in 5 days, the organizer has decided to cancel the race earlier enough so the registered racers can get a notice and make their alternative weekend plans. We are very thankful for their support.

The race organizer is also in the process of revamping this race for next year by obtaining feedbacks from the public regarding venue selections, etc: 1) remain at Rainbow Resort (www.rainbowresort.com), Waubun, MN (with some unique and race oriented trail system for skiing, biking, and running, and private trail system with very flexible setup for racing needs); 2) change the race venue to the TC areas (with a bigger crowd but with many inflexible issues); 3) other locations and comments.

The POLE PEDAL PANT Winter Triathlon event had been a part of MN winter history for 20 years involving many winter silent sports. We appreciate your continuous support, participation, and feedback which are the greatest reward to those hard-working volunteers. See you next year and enjoy the outdoor winter/spring season we have in MN.
