Key reminders to the Pole Pedal Pant racers: Please remember to bring your Elm Creek Park day trail pass or season trail pass required by the park. If you don’t have one, please check with the front desk at Elm Creek chalet. Also, if you participate in the bike event, please remember to bring your helmet as required by the rules. If you are out there riding/training, be courteous and thank volunteers. This event is helped by many volunteers in the skiing, biking, and running communities. Thanks for participating in the event. See you out there on Sat.

Key reminders to the volunteers: Please remember to bring warm clothes/water-proof outfit, gloves, headbands, mittens, water-resistant boots, etc., and warm change clothes. A few race official vehicles will be parked at the transition parking lot. You are welcome to take turns to warm up in the vehicles if needed. Thank you again for your support.

Racers’ equipment tips: The ski course is open at Elm Creek (Valley trails 2.5K loop). The bike/run course will be set up by Friday afternoon. As far as the equipment (bike, running shoes), it all depends on the weather this week leading to the Race Day. It is tricky on that part which is a part of the characteristics and strategy of participating in this race. For soft conditions, a fat tire bike is usually the better choice. But sometimes a fat tire bike may be heavy and slow if the snow is firm. If it will be wet and icy, a medium wide mt bike with studded tire would be a better choice. Winter running on snow is also tricky in terms of picking the right running shoes. Give it a try on late Friday and bring a couple of options on Sat. Hope this helps a little. Good luck on your race.

Other information: The xc ski course is set on the 4x2.5K Valley Trails. The bike and run courses is set on the 7K multi-use trails. The triathlon race starts at 9am. Special Snow-Flake medals will be awarded to triathlon race event’s top three age group finishers in each division (male/female) and the top three team winners. Classic skiers in the triathlon race are awarded in a separate division.

Individual ski race starts at 9am, individual bike race starts at 9:30am, and individual run race starts at 10am. The top overall winners of each of the xc ski, bike, or run races will receive an overall award.

Online registration ends on March 4, 2014, Tue. midnight. Day registration, and bib pickups are at 7:30am-8:30am on Sat. Registration forms and race rules can be downloaded from race website, www.polepedalpant.com. Volunteers are very welcome and please send in your volunteer form ahead of time (which can be downloaded at www.polepedalpant.com) by mail, or appear in person on Friday at 5pm-7pm at Elm Creek Park Reserve Chalet.

All proceeds of the POLE PEDAL PANT winter triathlon go to SILENT SPORTS FOUNDATION (a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization) which supports silent sports such as xc skiing, biking, running while helping charities including CAMP ODAYIN, CF FOUNDATION, SPECIAL OLYMPIC, AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, etc.

The 25th POLE PEDAL PANT® winter triathlon 2014 race remains at its last five year's venue in the Twin Cities, MN, held at Elm Creek Park Reserve, Maple Grove, MN, on March 8, 2014, Sat. We are hopeful for a record high participation in 2014. Similar to 2013, the xc ski will have a separate classic division. Known to the winter silent sports communities, Elm Creek Park Reserve makes and guarantees snow and sets one of the best classic Nordic track sets in the Upper Midwest areas.

Elm Creek Park Reserve has been known as the heaven for xc skiers, snowboarders, bikers, single-track cyclists, runners, Disc Golfers, and family/group activities. The POLE PEDAL PANT® winter triathlon race, historically hosted at Giant's Ridge Resort (Biwabik, MN) in its initial 16 years, then re-organized by and moved to RAINBOW RESORT/WEST ITASCA RESORT near Waubun, MN for 3 years. To preserve this oldest and historical winter triathlon race event, the race organizer has been engaging with SILENT SPORTS FOUNDATION and Three Rivers Park District, and found its venue in 2009 -- Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove, a northwest suburb of the greater Twin Cities areas, MN.

The 2014 race date/time has been set on March 8, 2014, Saturday, at 9am, race package pickup starts at 7:30am. Online registration ends March 4, 2014, Tue., midnight. Race day registration ends at 8am. The official website for the 25th POLE PEDAL PANT® winter triathlon race is www.rainbowresort.com/ppp or www.polepedalpant.com.

We are very grateful to the Three Rivers Park District/Elm Creek Park Reserve, all the sponsors and volunteers, and SILENT SPORTS FOUNDATION, a non-profit 501(c)(3) public organization which provides events and educational services to organizations and individuals in support of their pursuit in athletic sports and competitions, which leads to a healthy lifestyle in general public. All race proceeds go to benefit SILENT SPORTS FOUNDATION.
