Whether it is spring, summer, fall or winter, spending time in the woods offers a wide variety of ways to enjoy nature and wildlife in the forest and around the lake.

It is a great time of the year to hike and bike on our 15 miles of trails on resort property. All sorts of wildlife and birds can be seen. Our newest 3K of trails wind their way along the Otter Tail River between Little Bemidji Lake and Elbow Lake. The scenary is spectacular. Our on-site trails also provide great cross country skiing in the winter.

We have a number of other special camps and activities scheduled for this coming fall and winter including The Dick Beardsley Marathon Running Camp, NORDIC POLE PEDAL PANT fall triathlon, WEST ITASCA Ski Festival, etc. See our events calendar for more details.

We are well along in the first phase of a major expansion of our ski trails from 20K to 30K. We have added 3K in 2005 and 2006 for a total of 23K. We will be building more trails again this fall. Stay tuned for further developments.

We have excellent biking and hiking in our area. Participants in the Headwaters 100 event often stay at our resort. There are hundreds of miles of public mountain bike trails with spectacular scenery. Good road bike riding is available on the paved roads in our area. Many people either bike over to Itasca State Park or take their bikes over to the park and ride in the park. The Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge has awesome biking and hiking trails with incredible wildlife and birding. Our 15 miles of on-site trails are also available for your enjoyment.

We have several incredible spring, fall & winter season specials including: HALF-PRICE RATES for MIDWEEK stays (Monday thru Thursday). HALF-PRICE RATES Sunday night if you stay a Friday & Saturday night. 25% weekend discount for 2-persons in a 2-bedroom cabin. Call on Wednesdays for our last minute getaway specials for the coming weekend. (In the winter season, daily ski passes are included free of charge as a part of the cabin rental rate.) Take advantage of our unbelievable midweek specials for your company or group retreat and save 20% on our weekend rates for groups of 20 or more.

July 10TH; 2009: While vacationing at Rainbow Resort with his family this week; Dick Beardsley enjoyed getting out and running on the trails and the surrounding area. With the cooler spring temps earlier in the year and the more summer like weather now at this time the trails and woods are in full foliage.

Spring/Summer: The 2mile/3K hiking trail leaving out the back door from the cabins and winding through the woods along the Otter Tail River system and onto Elbow Lake will be turning into an explosion greenery sooner than later. This trail provides an excellent opportunity to see a wide variety of plant, animal, and bird species.

Spring/Summer: The Lady Slipper nestled amongst the ferns is just one of many plants thriving along our trail systems.

Summer: When you venture out on the trails do not forget the berry picking during the summer season. The wide variety of terrain also provides for some great Mountain Biking on 23K or 15 miles of trails.
