June 29th, 2008: After a very slow start to summer like weather the fishing, lake temperature, and weather has greatly improved. The fish opener and the month of May produced a lot of walleyes in the 18" to 24" class. Crappie fishing was a mixed bag all spring depending on the weather each day; however last week some of our guests reported excellent crappie fishing in the evenings. Large mouth bass are now on the prowl with crank baits and top water being the lure to use. Walleyes have been hard to find as of late, but our latest reports are that night fishing and crank baits seem to be working the best.

We have three lakes and a river for you to fish on. You can even catch all kinds of fish right from the dock. Our spring fed lakes are at the headwaters of the Otter Tail River system and are very clean & clear. There are a variety of fish including panfish, crappies, largemouth bass, perch, northern and walleye pike, bull heads, etc.

May 10th, 2008: Fish opener for 2008 was a big question mark even as late as Tuesday of that week. Ice still on the lake and cooler weather forecast for opening day but as you can see for these guests it was not a big deal after all. By Saturday afternoon they had returned to the docks with 10 walleyes ranging in the 19" to 23" class or 2 1/2# to 4# weight range. The fish are being caught in water depths of 8' to 14' deep with Lindy rigs and minnows. Considering they dealt with snow and rain showers through out the day they were pleasantly surprised with their catch for the day.

May 11th, 2008: Ted Torgerson caught and released this 30" walleye Sunday midday which he caught under blue skies and light winds. His group also nailed some more 20 to 22 inch eyes during the day. We do have some more guests arriving this week however if you want to get in on the action we do have a few openings at this time. Fishing should get better with a little warmer and settled weather.

May 16th, 2008: The warm temperatures this past week has brought on the crappie bite. Tom & Betsy picked up these nice fish on Friday in shallow water with temps in the upper 70's. Another group of guests here at the resort caught their limit on the same day. Guests are reporting that the pan fish are starting to pick up also.

May 18th, 2008: Our guests in cabin one have picked up some nice sized walleyes in shallow water using jigs. Believe it or not but one of these beauties is a male. Even with some variable weather conditions the fish are still cooperating on Little Bemidji.

May 18th, 2008: Dean enjoys catching some nice sized pan fish in front of our lodge. The pan fish have been running on the smaller size in the shallows however with any kind of warm up the pan fish and crappie bite should only improve. Water temperatures still are around 50*F on the main lake but Johnny Cake lake is a little warmer.
