MARCH 4TH; 2008:Winter Wonderland Trails in Becker County are being listed as good to very good condition. Grooming will take place during the week for the weekend. Check us out for mid week discounts. THINK SNOW!

See the University of Minnesota snow depth map (link provided below) for snow depth reports. We are located in northeastern Becker County just west of Leech Lake. If you go to the link provided below you will note that we typically have good snow conditions even when the Twin Cities has no snow or when areas just 30 to 40 miles to the south of us have no snow. March 13th; 2008: The warm weather this past week has done it's damage to the snowmobile trails in the area. Conditions have been downgraded to poor to fair on some sections of the trails. Any south exposed or open areas have large stretches of dirt/mud exposed on the trail. We are supposed to cool down a little this weekend however there is no new snow forecast until Monday possibly.

March 13th; 2008: Large stretches of trail now look like this trail leading up the hill to trail #400 off Little Bemidji Lake. The tree effect warm up from this past week has really done a number on the base of the trails and I would have to say that riding conditions would be fair at best and very poor at minimum. There is talk by our local weatherman of a remote chance of a big snow event on Monday so stay tuned.

March 4th; 2008: As I headed down the Strawberry Mountain Trail towards Elbow Lake there was plenty of snow on the trails even in the pine tree areas. Becker County will be grooming trails in the County up by Rainbow Resort this week again. Conditions are quite good for late season riding.

February 26th; 2008: I left the resort here on Trail #400 which leaves off the East side of the lake and allows for travel east, north, and south of the resort on the trail network. This trail has a mixed bag of conditions from dirt spots to good snow coverage. Becker County has posted their grooming schedule for the week and for the most part all trails will be groomed starting Wednesday through Saturday. New snow is in our forecast for Thursday and Friday and with any new snow trails should be in great shape. Over all conditions are good with a few exceptions in short areas of the trails.

This is a snow depth map from the state climatology office for January last winter. We are located in northeastern Becker county west of Leech Lake (on the blue band of snow extending into Becker County on this map). Located on the west side of the Laurentian Divide and in heavily forested area, we often get snow by Thanksgiving and have snow through March. We often have snow when the southern half of the state has none. Indeed snow conditions in our area are often much better than areas just 40 miles away such as Detroit Lakes or Park Rapids so please call our toll free number or check our website for current snow conditions.
