GENERAL WINTER ACTIVITIES

***************SCROLL DOWN FOR PHOTOS***************

March 20, 2008: It is a winter wonderland with 5 inches of fresh snow and more than a foot of snow on the ground! We have XC skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, ice skating, sliding hill, recreation center with games and sauna, etc., etc., etc. See our events calendar for some of the many upcoming events planned for this winter such as the RAINBOW RENDEZVOUS Ski Races, POLE PEDAL PANT Winter Triathlon, etc.

Cabins and day ski passes are available. Day ski passes are only $10 and are included free with cabin rental. We have a variety of winter activities at Rainbow Resort including fishing, sliding, skiing, skating, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, indoor game room, disc golf, etc. Ski, snow shoe, ice skate & fish rentals are available. We are just 1/2 hour from Itasca State Park and the headwaters of the Mississippi River and are located on the north boundary of the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge.

Stay for as little as $35/person per night on the weekends (4 persons in a two bedroom cabin). Take advantage of our winter and spring specials including HALF-PRICE RATES for mid-week stays (Monday - Thursdy nights), HALF-PRICE RATES Sunday night if you stay Friday and Saturday nights, 20% large group discount for groups of 20 or more, & special 2-person discount of 25% in a 2-bedroom cabin on Friday and Saturday nights. Take advantage of our Wild Wednesday weekend specials by calling on Wednesday or later in the week for our specials for the coming weekend.

***Day ski passes are free with cabin rental.***

See the University of Minnesota snow depth map (link provided below) for snow depth reports. We are located in northeastern Becker County just west of Leech Lake. We often get snow by Thanksgiving and have snow through March. It is not uncommon for us to have snow when the Twin Cities have no snow. Give us a call or check out our website for snow conditions. The March 20th map shows us in a medium blue zone of 4 to 8 inches. We have 5 to 6 more inches fresh snow on top of this.

Visit the University of Minnesota's Weekly Snow Depth and Snow Depth Ranking Maps.

January 27th, 2008: This past weekend a group of fisherman caught this nice walleye on Sunday morning. They reported that the early morning and evening bight was the best and they viewed a good number of northern pike with their camera. Though the walleye bite was slow they did catch a couple of smaller ones and also said they did lose a couple of nice fish.

January 26th, 2008: These young ladies enjoyed their weekend by keeping busy crafting and doing a little skiing.

January 20th, 2008: The Ball family enjoyed a game of ball hockey on a clear colder windless day. Even thought the mercury dropped down to the basement overnight they also enjoyed getting out mid day to do some CX skiing over the weekend.

December 24th, 2007: Everyone at the resort enjoyed a beautiful sunset on the eve of Christmas. You should have been here to feel the moment.

December 21, 2003: In the winter of 2003-2004, we opened our new ski waxing and rental equipment facility. Waxing facility includes 2 ski holders and 2 irons and a very spacious area. The new rental center is heated and includes skis, boots, poles, snowshoes and ice skates for rental. Features include track lighting with adjustable light fixtures and ample power outlets.
